The Importance of Less and More
February 6th, 2007 Posted in Work Less
In most conversations I have with people, their initial reaction to the concept of Work Less, Make More is very predictable. They usually roll their eyes, or chuckle, or both. What they’re communicating, whether they verbalize it or not, is their doubt as to whether it is even possible to Work Less, Make More.
You might be thinking the same thing. If you are, please know that it is possible to Work Less and Make More. Jennifer spent over three years developing the process. During that time, she experimented with her own life, and supported her clients as they began to work less, make more and make more of their lives.
My experience has been similar. I know what it’s like to work more and make less, to work more and make more, and to work less and make more. Not only does Work Less, Make More work, it is by far the most desirable way to realize your full potential in life. There’s just one requirement: You must be committed to doing it.
So how do you get started? By looking at two very important words: Less and More.
Pull out a piece of paper (or go get your journal) and take time to reflect on these two words. To help you through this exercise, I’m going to ask you a few questions. Choose one question each day, and write it at the top of your page. Then spend 20 minutes writing whatever comes to mind.
As you write, you’ll find that you begin to flush out what “working less and making more” means to you. This is an important part of starting your journey. You need to know where you are, so you can develop a plan to get to where you want to be.
Here are the questions:
What does less look like in your life right now?
What does more look like in your life right now?
What do you want less and more to look like in your life?
Invest time every day for the next week to reflect on these three questions. Think about what you can do—right now—to Work Less, Make More.
That’s a good place to start.
